Most students are aware of natural numbers, integers, rational numbers, irrational numbers, real numbers, pure imaginary numbers, and complex numbers. Unfortunately, far fewer have heard of algebraic and transcendental numbers and exponentially fewer know about transcendental numbers beyond that π and e are transcendental. Although almost all real numbers are transcendental, they remain virtually unstudied at the grades 9–16 level. This paper introduces transcendental numbers and follows with a novel approach to constructing Patterned Transcendental Numbers through techniques available to high school algebra students and beyond and provides two apps that will allow readers to create patterned transcendental numbers. This paper ends with student recreational investigations regarding developing transcendental numbers.
